Hi again.
I'm Simian.
I'm a Computer Science student at the University of Waterloo. My projects move between browser tools, machine learning, and games, with a few small hardware experiments along the way.
This site is a place to collect that work. There's a tool for finding things I've read, a mod for recording what happens in a game, and a few things made just for fun.
The small, playful projects01 / Interests
Following the
interesting bits.
Search is one of those bits. With DevRecall, I'm working on the gap between saving a useful page and actually finding it later. The extension combines keyword search with optional embeddings, while keeping the saved library in the browser.
Games give me another kind of problem to work on. MyPacman is a Pygame recreation; STS2 AI Logger looks underneath a Slay the Spire 2 run, recording the actions and state changes that would otherwise disappear when the run ends.
I've also been studying neural networks through Karpathy's course, including micrograd and PyTorch exercises. Mushroom Classifier takes a different route into that subject: train a classification head, connect it to a web app, and inspect the predictions.

A home for
the things I build.
I run an Ubuntu server for my personal websites and the Mushroom Classifier frontend and backend. Drone CI/CD handles deployment pipelines, and I use 1Panel to manage the services.
For remote administration, FRP forwards connections through a Hetzner VPS so I can reach the local server over SSH. It gives my projects somewhere to live and gives me the deployment and maintenance work that comes with that.

I built an internal influencer-discovery demo with Vue 3, Spring Boot, and MySQL. It collected Xiaohongshu creator data for business feasibility review, reused results through caching and incremental updates, and used DeepSeek to generate search keywords.
